Toyota Severe Trust Problems Around The World

Now that Toyota Motor Company (TM) is embroiled in a sea of bad publicity and severe trust problems around the world, Ford Motor Company (F) has now announced that a "software upgrade" to owners of recent Ford Fusion Hybrid vehicle owners is needed to fix "strange feelings" in the brakes of those cars for vgp bps2c ,vgp bps2b . So, what is it with all these higher-tech vehicles having so many odd braking problems?

Good question -- and now that the similar issues from Toyota and Ford are now public, how many other cars will need a reboot to fix problems? Although Toyota's CEO has now publicly apologized for that automaker's numerous issues of VGP-BPS8 , will Ford do the same? Is this the new order of the day: transparency and apology from automakers in lieu of recalls?

Toyota may initiate a recall of its 2010 Prius hybrid vehicles shortly. Ford should do the same -- not simply ask customers to come in for a software upgrade. What Toyota and Ford are seeing here is apparently a breakdown in the communication between dealers and customers of vgp bps2a . Regenerative braking changes in newer hybrids are causing customer confusion where there should be none.

Yes, automotive technology is changing and it appears Ford's problem here is more of a "customer use" issue rather than a technical defect. Still, we're driving using the same habits that have existed for decades of Dell latitude d600 battery ,Dell latitude d610 battery -- and vehicles are way more complicated than ones just made a decade ago. Communication is key -- and it didn't happen in this case involving Ford.

Toyota had changed the regenerative braking system software in January, but has yet to say what to do about vehicles manufactured before then. The issue involves a "disconnect" in the anti-lock brake system of vgp bps8a ,vgp bpl8 ,vgp bps2c that causes a slight lag of less than one second--still enough for a car to travel 90 extra feet at 60 mph before the brakes grab.

The Prius issue comes at a really bad time for Toyota. The automaker is currently slogging its way through a confusing, multi-issue recall involving over five million late-model Toyotas that could potentially cost over $1 billion to fix for Dell latitude d600 battery ,Dell latitude d610 battery . The Prius hadn't been involved until Wednesday.

Without issuing a recall of its iconic Prius hybrid vehicles, Toyota said Thursday a software glitch is to blame for braking problems in the 2010 model."We would want to be given a little time of Fujitsu lifebook t4220 battery ,Fujitsu lifebook t4010 battery ," Hiro Yuki Yokoyama, Toyota's managing officer, said when reporters asked whether a recall was in the works. The company changed its braking system software in January as part of what it called "constant quality improvements," but did not say what it would do about vehicles manufactured before then.

Toyota officials described the problem as a "disconnect" in the vehicle's complex anti-lock brake system (ABS) that causes less than a one-second lag. With the delay, a vehicle going 60 mph will have traveled nearly another 90 feet before the brakes begin to take hold on VGP-BPS8 ,vgp bps8a .Toyota Vice President Shinichi Sasaki met with Japan's transport minister on Wednesday, when he was urged to take notice of the mounting complaints against one of the automaker's most popular models.

Brakes in hybrids such as the Prius operate differently from brakes in most cars. In addition to standard brakes, which use friction from pads pressed against drums or rotors, the electric motors in hybrids help slow them to Fujitsu lifebook t4220 battery ,Fujitsu lifebook t4010 battery . The process also generates electricity to recharge the batteries. The Japanese government has warned Toyota to take seriously mounting complaints of brake problems with its 2010 Prius hybrid.

In Japan, 14 complaints about brakes in the Prius have been lodged since July. Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has asked Toyota to investigate for vgp bps8a ,vgp bps2c according to the Japan Automobile Dealers Association."NHTSA has received a number of complaints about a potential defect affecting the brake system in Toyota's Prius hybrid and is conducting field work to examine the issue," the agency said Wednesday.

"The complaints received via our dealers center around when drivers are on a bumpy road or frozen surface," said Paul Nolasco, a Toyota Motor Corp. spokesman in Japan. "The driver steps on the brake and they do not get as full of a braking feel as expected for Fujitsu lifebook t5010 battery ."In the United States, more than 100 complaints alleging poor brake performance have been lodged with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration against the 2010 Prius, a newly designed version of the car that was introduced last summer.
